Geotechnical
Engineering Services
Geotechnical
engineering services typically consist of field exploration and subsurface
investigations using test borings, test pits, hand augers, and/or geophysical
methods (seismic refraction, electrical resistivity, micro-gravity, etc.)
to identify and evaluate soil, bedrock, and groundwater conditions for
new residential subdivisions. Geotechnical design recommendations
are generally provided for shallow foundations, basement and/or garage
slabs, below-grade and retaining walls, utility and pavement improvements
as well as site preparation/structural fill selection, placement, and compaction.
Unique or challenging site conditions (existing fill, marine clays, shallow
bedrock, high groundwater, slopes, etc.) are additionally addressed to
identify any special design/construction considerations and eliminate long-term
performance problems.
