Employee Spotlight: Akshay Beniwal, PE - WDP & Associates

What is your alma mater and what did you study?

I studied Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering at The University of California, Irvine.

What is your role at WDP?

I am a Senior Engineer at WDP, managing and working on a variety of structural projects including parking garages, underground tunnels, railroad bridges, historic buildings, powerplants, warehouses, and residential buildings. I am responsible for successfully managing and executing a project from the proposal phase to the final completion.

How long have you been working at WDP?

I have been with WDP for a little over seven years.

What do you like about working at WDP?

I really enjoy working on a project from the very beginning through completion. I am typically involved in meeting the potential client on the site, writing a proposal, getting the project started, planning the site work, developing the design documents, assisting during the bid phase, and performing construction administration.

I also enjoy working on a variety of structures and project types. In forensics, there is always an element of excitement in not knowing what is going to come through the door next. It could be a simple retrofit project, or it could be something you’ve never encountered before. The opportunity to take on these challenges and solving unique problems is something I really appreciate here at WDP.
