Prince William County Public Schools Haymarket Elementary School, Haymarket, VA
WDP provided design recommendations, construction phase Special Inspections and materials testing services for this $20 Millon, 98,736 square foot school building. The scope of services included structural fill, soils and foundations, cast-in-place concrete, reinforcing steel, structural steel, and masonry construction for this new one and two story structure framed with structural steel and load-bearing masonry walls, supported by shallow foundations with on-grade slab. The site also included parking areas, bus loop, stormwater management pond, play areas, and site utility improvement.
This LEED Certified School has two large underground water storage tanks that were installed to provide irrigation water storage for the ball fields. Approximately half of the building pad consisted of deposits of expansive clay that required remediation.
