He also has varied building design, construction, and investigative experience on large government and private organization projects.
Rich comes to WDP, most recently, from Jacobs in Arlington, VA, where he worked as a Construction Administration Manager and Building Enclosure Commissioning Specialist since 2014. Prior to that, Rich was with ECS in Chantilly, VA as a Senior Project Manager and with SmithGroup in DC where he was Director of Construction Services.
Rich has a unique background from his 28 years in the US Air Force (Active / Reserve) dealing with master planning, programming requirements, and development of program strategies combined with a variety of responsibilities working for Architecture, Engineering, and Testing Agency firms. Rich served 8 years of active duty in the U.S. Air Force as a Civil Engineering Officer before serving as a reservist. He was a Unit Commander twice and was recognized as the Outstanding Civil Engineer Manager of the Year while serving in the Air Force before retiring from the Air Force in 2017.
"Since 7th Grade Industrial Arts when I first picked up a drafting pencil and used a T-square to draw a line, I wanted to be an Architect. It's been a unique, non-linear, and often rewarding journey since, including a couple of trips to the 'Sand Box' (deployments while in the Air Force) and navigating different roles as Designer, Consultant, Testing Agent, Owner's Rep, Team Leader, and PM. What's constant are working with people, solving problems, and research, research, research (read, observe, reread). WDP is unique in allowing me to perform multiple roles on a variety of challenging projects and, by doing so, leverages my experience and knowledge for maximum benefit to our Clients."
