Construction of the new public safety facility included a four-story, 72,000 SF facility and three-story, 23,600 SF auxiliary building with a connecting bridge between the 2 buildings. The auxiliary building also includes a two-story partially below-grade parking garage. These buildings include a mechanical penthouse, motorcycle unit, fitness area, storage areas, service yard, an impound lot, perimeter security walls/fences, and access control gates. The parking garage and surface parking will provide secure parking for approximately 151 vehicles, and public parking for approximately 37 vehicles. WDP provided geotechnical engineering and materials consulting, third-party special inspections, and materials testing services on the project.
Existing uncontrolled fill soils were present within the northern limits of the project site that required evaluation and overexcavation and replacement with controlled fill to provided proper bearing support for the parking garage, northern parking area, and underground SWM Stormtech chamber system. Shallow, hard bedrock was also present within the project site that required crushing/processing to smaller rock sizes to be reused as structural fill.
